Throughout my life I have noticed how little guidance there is when it comes to maintaining the health of you and your family. This is what drives me, to guide my community in making important health decisions that will lead to better health and a better life for you and your family.
Throughout my life I have noticed how little guidance there is when it comes to maintaining the health of you and your family. This is what drives me, to guide my community in making important health decisions that will lead to better health and a better life for you and your family.
Your immune system protects your body, and is made up of multiple organs, cells and proteins. It is the second most complex system in your body, and works intimately with your nervous system. It is typically activated when you have a foreign substance or pathogen in or on your body.
With extreme or chronic stress (like when the temperature gets colder) your immune system tends to down regulate, this creates a downward cycle for your body and you start to feel more ill more frequently. When your immune system, your protection, is weaker bacteria and viruses that are usually not a problem take the opportunity to grow and proliferate within your body. This is when you may start to feel the symptoms of something like the flu come one. “We often hear that it is the flu season, but that is nonsense. The problem is that your immune system is not working the way it should, which gives an opportunity for bacteria and viruses to grow out of control in your body.” says Justin
Here are 7 examples that can be incorporated in your life to help your immune system to function at its optimal level:
1. Decrease Stress:
When we become overwhelmed and stressed your body releases cortisol and adrenaline which decreases the function of the immune system. Making gratitude a habit is one of the best ways we have found to decrease stress. We all have something to be grateful for, take some time out of your day and say thanks.
2. Good Night Sleep:
When you sleep your body can spend more energy on healing and repairing. This includes cleaning up cells (like cancer cells) that are not working correctly, or keeping better balance in your microbiome. Your immune system, like your nervous system, requires a lot of energy to function. While you are sleeping the energy can go where it needs to.
3. Nutrition:
Making sure you eat healthy organic fruits and vegetables (food in general) ensures that you get the right nutrients. Avoiding too many processed foods like sugar or refined carbohydrates also decreases the stress on your body, allowing your immune system to prosper.
4. Supplements:
5. Meditation/Mindfulness:
It gives you a sense of calm, peace, and balance, it benefits your overall health, well-being and can help with emotional stress. Just meditating 5min a day can boost your brain function, reduce stress, help with your metabolism and improve your mood.
6. Exercise:
Keeps your body young and moving. It helps with the function of your white blood cells, works as a good anti-inflammatory, reduces stress, fights infection and improves blood flow.
7. Getting a chiropractic correction:
Did you know one chiropractic correction can boost your immune system by 200 & 400%. Chiropractic works with your brain and body connection. With every correction there is an increased release of antibodies and a priming of your innate immune system through better function of your nervous system.
Imagine if your immune system was ready, regardless of the stress in your life or the weather you experience, to protect and heal you from any invasion. Just like your own team of Avengers fighting off bad invaders, your immune system will be able to keep the balance between you and the bacteria and viruses (the micro-organisms) that should be there to help keep you healthy. “Many of our clients notice they they get sick less frequently with regular chiropractic care, as well as making a habit out of eating, moving and thinking in a more healthy manner.” says Annika
Your immune system and your nervous system work together to form the basis for coordinated function and healing. When one is not working the way it should it puts the other under stress. This is why it is important to support your nervous system, because with all its complex function it is a vital part of how you feel, and how you live.
